DANCE TO THE PEOPLE is an open movement collective founded in NYC in 2014. Its goal is to foster habits of sustainable exchange within the dance and performance community. We organize classes, workshops, environmental dance research, choreographic projects, and performance parties. Each member has the ability to take initiative in directing projects, finding funding, spaces, collaborations, or other resources to support such projects, as long as it has a pubic component and is accessible for free or by donation. Presently the collective has 10-15 regular members, who come from diverse artistic and cultural backgrounds, as well as of regions of the world. Dance to the people has received support from the CUNY Dance Initiative (2014-2016), the National Association of Latino Arts and Culture (2017), and space from BAX Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Spaceworks, and Nublu. www.dancetothepeople.org
